This past year has been one of many changes. Some of these changes have forced us to re-think the way we used to live but if there's a silver lining to all of these things, is that transformation can be extremely positive. We can see our life goals and priorities with new eyes.
For us, in the world of cinema, this paradigm shift will have ripple effects in the way we tell and share stories. Our films will be different and moreover, the way we commercialize and consume cinema will change. The way we carry our businesses will require us, independent distributors, producers, and agents to become leaner, embrace technology, and ultimately streamline operations in a seamless manner. The film industry itself will be forced to become more agile, transparent, and resilient. This transformation can be extremely positive, even if right now we feel like our balance sheet provides a grim outlook.
As for TAILS, it may be dormant but this doesn't mean that it won't come back to life. It will take time, maybe a couple of years before our operations kick off again... but rest assured that Tails International Sales will remain my life goal, and it will come back much stronger. The moments we shared, the films we distributed together, and the support provided in each step of this journey remain the greatest source of inspiration for me.
Thank you for your support and please let me know if I can help in any way moving forward.
Con mucho cariño,
She's an MBA graduate from the Beedie School of Business in Canada, holds a Diploma in Arts and Design from UCA Canterbury (UK), and has a Film Production degree from the ESEC in Paris. Andrea started her film career assisting the director of Un Certain Regard at the Cannes Film Festival and learned the ropes of film sales at the Paris-based sales agency Playtime Group (ex- Films Distribution). She has worked on sales strategy for Latin American cinema with Diana Bustamante (Burning Blue) and founded Tails International Sales in 2018, a film sales agency that carefully curates and offers films to be remembered. Since then, TAILS has become an international reference of the most rebellious titles of world cinema.
In 2020, due to the world pandemic, Andrea put TAILS into dormancy and took up an Account Executive position at Envisio. There she helped government organizations in North America communicate their goals and increase transparency. Most recently, in 2021, Andrea transitioned to the hypergrowth startup Clio.
Outside of work, Andrea loves dogs, her family and swimming. Andrea and her partner are planning on getting a furry friend in their new home in Vancouver. Ideally, the furry friend can swim with her in the icy waters of Canada...
